DB Schenker

Introducing DB Schenker

DB Schenker is the only rail freight operator in the UK that is able to provide a full nationwide service with access to Europe through the Channel Tunnel. Each year, hundreds of our freight trains haul millions of tonnes along thousands of miles of track. We move mountains (of products, raw materials and waste) every day. We keep industry moving and are one of the most formidable rail freight and logistics companies in the world.  DB Schenker recently acquired rail freight operator EWS in Britain; so if you see a train branded EWS, it’s a DB Schenker train.

We are recruiting graduates for programmes in the UK and Europe.  For both schemes a second European language especially German, French or Spanish is highly desirable.  To join our business in Europe you must be fluent in French and English.

Whether you join us in the UK or Europe, you are guaranteed one thing- responsibility. And if you’re up to the challenges you’ll face, you’ll progress -quickly.

As part of the global DB Schenker logistics division, we are the leading rail freight operator in Britain and much of Europe. We deliver innovative services for major players in, among others, the electricity supply, construction, waste and logistics industries. Put it simply, we’re very, very big.

The trains, the network and the challenges are all that bit bigger, so this isn’t a small programme. But prove yourself and the rewards will be huge.

We want to recruit highly motivated and talented graduates with work experience as well as those graduating this summer.

Our training programmes

We want our leaders of tomorrow to be bright, confident and self – assured. But we don’t expect you to do this alone. We’ll support you, encourage you and train you. Our graduate programmes combine theoretical and practical training along with real, hands on management experience.

Everybody that joins us will have a comprehensive technical and managerial development programme designed specifically to prepare them for their first management appointment.

Following your initial technical training you will spend considerable time in one of our business units. This workplace exposure will be structured to give you the best possible start is obtaining the competencies and knowledge required to be a successful manager within the company.  You’ll also visit Head Office departments and other Business Units to ensure you get a fully rounded view of the company and our business. At the end of this varied and structured 12 month training programme you’ll be ready for your first management appointment and also be a competent train driver!

Whilst on the scheme you will have a dedicated mentor and regular meetings where your progress will be reviewed, and future progression discussed.

Careers in the UK
