PMA Media Training

HIGHEST JOB SUCCESS RATE OF ANY JOURNALISM COURSE

PMA’s Postgraduate Diploma in Magazine Journalism has run twice a year for 21 years. Our recent graduates have secured terrific jobs, despite the recession. All but one of those who graduated from the course on 13 March 2009, are now full-time journalists. They are working on titles like Third Sector, Planning, Regeneration and Renewal, asos.com and The Times. A couple are working in Dubai and we are waiting to hear the result of interviews for our final graduate (who is busy with freelance in the meantime). Publishers know our grads are exceptionally well-qualified to handle a demanding job. And our network of alumni, now in senior editorial roles in magazines, TV, radio and national newspapers, know that a PMA Postgrad will match their expectations.

PMA’s expert tutors are the best in the business. They train hundreds of working journalists across the magazine publishing industry every year. We know the editors, and when they have a job going, they trust us to recommend someone for a post. Often these jobs aren’t advertised, so you would never get to hear about them through the normal routes… even from this website!

When graduation day comes we make sure you meet the employers. Senior editors and HR people line up to meet the talent. That’s why we can make our unique claim to work hard at turning you into a journalist, and even harder to get you ready for that first journalism job. The rest is up to you!

It’s not an easy course. It’s a boot camp experience that makes The Apprentice look tame. You’ll have no social life for nine weeks, but you’ll get to know 11 other people really well. The tutors push you very hard. You’ll have more hours tuition in nine weeks than you’ve probably had for the three or four years of your undergraduate degree. But it’s not an academic experience. That’s why editors love our postgrads. You’ll all have had a dose of reality, and always meet your deadlines.

PMA’s course has been fully-accredited since its inception. No university can match it for job success. And you’ll be in Camden Town, central London (just behind Koko’s if you know the area), where news happens all around you. Not that you’ll have too much time for window-shopping, you’ll be out with video cameras, notebooks or at press conferences gathering news and feature stories. It’s non-stop, evenings, weekends and early mornings. But you’ll love it. Journalism is the best job in the world. Trust us to help you get there fast.
