A. Firstly, it will help you to decide the best way forward with your career by helping you understand your strengths and limitations. Secondly, it helps employers to choose the person who is best suited for the job. You don’t have to share the details of your psychometric test if you choose not to, but you are more likely to find a job that suits you if you allow employers to see your results.

Q. Should I write a covering letter when applying for a job?

A. If your CV has been requested, you should accompany this with a covering letter. Covering letters should be typed, unless the employer has stated otherwise and should not exceed one side of A4. The letter should be formal, and contain all your contact details. You should state the position you are applying for and where you saw the advert for the job. You then need to say why you are the best candidate for the job and what you can contribute to your prospective employer. It is then a good idea to state what your aspirations are for your career. Request an interview at the employer’s earliest convenience, and sign your letter preferably with an ink pen.
