Through their stores they serve over 130 million customers a year, selling general merchandise and products for the home. An opportunity has now arisen for a Planning Manager to join their team. For this role our client is looking to recruit an experienced Planning Manager to play a key role. And because the company's policy is to promote within, there ll be ample opportunity to develop your career.In this role you will be responsible for developing warehouse and transport plans for the site in order to meet future workload demands, identifying and arranging for the appropriate resources to be available. Specifically, this will involve proactively balancing warehouse and transport cost drivers, whilst leading a small team. This role is site based.This position requires someone with a hunger for learning and the ability to understand the team and unlock their great potential. And because you'll be joining an ever changing environment, you should be someone who relishes change, and can support and drive improvements at an individual, team and business level, within defined current structures.As a Planning Manager your main duties will include:- Ensuring the production of the live daily transport operational schedule to meet demands- Using Paragon to forward plan and accurately determine future fleet and labour requirements- Providing accurate information to maximise labour and asset utilisation - Managing the Despatch Schedulers, Planning Clerk, Paragon Planner and Pick Face Planner (including training) - Planning and reviewing all major transport and warehouse activities stock count, holidays, storage space etc- Planning and allocating manpower to ensure workload requirements are met To be considered for this position you must have proven planning management experience. You will also need to demonstrate good problem solving abilities, familiarity with MS Office, and strong communication skills. The ideal Planning Manager will have experience using Paragon software and/or warehouse management systems, and will hold English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent).
